Contemporary Residential Architecture, Sofali, Prishtina, 2025

This modern villa, located in the green and peaceful neighborhood of Sofali in Prishtina, Kosovo, is a refined expression of contemporary residential architecture. Designed by Arber Shala | Architects, the project merges minimalist design principles with a deep connection to nature, offering a timeless, comfortable, and functional home for modern living.

The architectural concept is driven by light, openness, and fluid transitions between interior and exterior. The villa features clean horizontal lines softened by elegant Mediterranean-inspired arches, giving it a distinct character within the urban fabric of Sofali. The façade plays with warm earthy tones, wood-textured surfaces, and large glass openings that invite nature inside.

Spread over two levels, the villa is organized to maximize natural light, views, and livable space. The ground floor connects directly to a landscaped garden through full-height glazing, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. This level is dedicated to communal living—open, social, and surrounded by greenery.

On the upper floor, expansive sliding doors open to a panoramic terrace with glass railings, offering unbroken views of the surrounding landscape and treetops. The terrace serves as a tranquil retreat and an extension of the upper-floor bedrooms, ideal for relaxing, entertaining, or simply enjoying the seasons.

Materiality plays a vital role in defining the villa’s tone. The combination of soft beige plaster, dark wood-like cladding, and stone textures creates a natural, calming atmosphere while ensuring durability and low maintenance. The choice of materials reflects our commitment to environmentally responsive and energy-efficient design.

The garden is designed with a layered palette of seasonal plants, flowering shrubs, and soft greenery to enhance privacy and visual richness throughout the year. A discreet parking area and pathway complement the overall composition, welcoming residents and guests in an understated yet elegant manner.

This villa in Sofali represents our studio’s belief that architecture should be simple, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about creating places where people feel at home.
